Prayer Request and a Heavy Heart

I found a blog (http://www.aplacecalledsimplicity.blogspot.com/) a couple of years ago and follow it regularly.  Linny, the author inspires me.  One of the things that she teaches over and over is to pray and fast. She has lots of posts about it so if you have any questions about it, go take a look at her blog.

One of the things that I have learned from watching her is that the prayers of others, even those that we have never met are special and uplifting.  So since Linny is hosting praying and fasting today, I thought I might join in.

I have a couple of prayer requests and I offer to you, list your request in the comment section and I would be honored to pray for you.  And if you don't happen on this post until 3 weeks from now, you can still comment and I will still pray for you.

Here are my prayer requests.

1. Our house is for sale.  It has been for sale for the better part of two years. (or at least feels that way!)  We have had it on the market for the last two summers and nothing. nada.  Please pray that our house would sell soon!  We have found a house that fits us, our budget and is in a great neighborhood, but we can't buy it still owning this house.

2. My younger sister who fosters children has done respite care for a 10year old girl a few times and we have all come to know her and love her.  She is outgoing and silly and funny and adorable. She is ready for a forever family.  None of our immediate family are in a position to adopt her.  So please pray for this child that she would be adopted by a family that would dote on her and love her forever.

3. One of my special needs students (who you have seen pictures of creating clay pieces) is on hospice.  She is in the end stages of cerebral palsy and is suffering.  Please pray for her and her family.

Thank you for allowing me to share my heart.  So many are hurting right now.  Our friends down the street lost their 32 year old son in an auto accident this week. Celebrating Christmas will be so hard for them and for others.

I pray for a joyful day for you.

For Haiti

A few thoughts on Haiti
(The pictures are taken from my sister Libby's blog, please check out her story at Blessed Family Life)

My sister Libby returned from a medical mission trip to Haiti on Saturday.
Today the area is in ruins.

At church, my daughter made a Christmas box for an orphan in Haiti that was delivered last week.
Today the number of orphans grew.

I've known about the desperate needs of the Haitian people for years, but today I saw.

There are so many emotions and thoughts going through my head.  I think of the people who had nothing to begin with and now are faced with such devestation.  I wonder why and I ask God for guidance and courage.  I want to help, but I don't know how.  I want to be of service to those precious children my sister had the privilege to meet and care for, but I don't know where to start.

So I am thanking God that Libby was able to visit Haiti just last week.  I thank God that she made it home before this tragedy struck.  I thank God that through the work of hands like Libby's, my family doesn't just think of the people of Haiti, we see their faces.

I pray that during these first few weeks when the media talks about the causalties and the devastation that we would see the face of the Haitian people and we would remember that they are individuals and have needs.  I pray that we would not forget them as quickly as we the media surely will.  I pray that this would be a starting point, a defining moment for many, and that people would work together to help those in need.

If you would like to help the crisis in Haiti, why not consider supporting Global Vision Citadelle Ministries.  (http://www.gvcm.org/) This is the organization that is already serving the people of Haiti and the ministry that Libby worked with just a few short days ago.

Forwarding on a desperate plea

This is from a blog I follow.

Would You Please Pray and/or Fast With Us?

Sweet friends we need your help, please.

It is a long story, which I cannot go into, but due to circumstances that were completely out of our control we have not been able to file our paperwork with immigration. (It is near done, but not quite.)

This morning, while grocery shopping I received a phone call from our agency. They had just received word that Ch*na was troubled by the length of time it has taken for our paperwork to get to Immigration, thus they are withdrawing their acceptance of us as Jubilee's parents.

Meaning, we no longer have permission from Ch*na to adopt Jubilee.
I asked our agency what do we do now and they said, "We don't know. Ch*na has never done this before." Of course it hasn't.

Dw and I are grieved, have been crying, and are petitioning the Lord. We believe that one reason we have this blog and you bloggy friends is to join together "for such a time as this." If you think you cannot believe all the things that have happened to us this year, trust me, we cannot either.
Jubilee is our daughter. She has been our daughter for 18 months as we have dreamed about her, bought things for her and prayed for her. She will be 8 the day after Christmas. She needs to come home. She needs to come home now.

We need a mountain moved, a miracle to happen and great favor to be issued. We are asking God to move on the Ch*nese Government and rescind that decision and allow us to proceed - we are about 2 days from ready to send it.

Hence, we turn to the Almighty-God of the Universe, who we refer to as the Miracle-working, Mountain-moving, Awe-inspiring, Gasp-giving God....He is the ONLY one able to move this mountain.

Would any of you be willing to pray and/or fast with us tomorrow, Thursday, August 26, 2009? Please pray for Jubilee's protection as well. There is no doubt that things are going on in the supernatural.

PS PLease ask any prayer warrior or prayer chain to pray - please? And feel free to post it on your blog.

Why can't life ever be easy?

Why can't life ever be easy? That's my question for today. You know the previous post about the wonderful baby that our friends just got... well, life has thrown them a curve ball. It turns out that there are some unresolved issues and they don't know if they will get to keep precious Ryan. So please pray for this situation. We know that God is in control, but from our perspective it is so hard to sit back and watch the heartbreak.

Hit a snag, gonna whine a little now!

Our wonderful caseworker at Dillon International investigated why our immigration clearance is taking so long. It seems they misplaced our paperwork. It has been there a few days shy of 2 months!!!!!!!! I'm not gonna lie and say that I'm handling things super well. My heart is sick. My baby is growing up without me! My husband is a school principal and the timing of this is starting to stink. I spoke with a travel agent today and she said August is the most expensive time to fly from Korea back to the US. So, our flights will be more expensive than if we'd flown in July. The reason is because a huge number of college students come over here from S. Korea and they are all returning to the US after summer break. UGH!!! I know that God's timing is perfect and He sees the big picture, beginning to end! Hudson is in good hands and with a precious foster family. Please pray pray pray for speedy paperwork!!!!!!

Thankful Thursday complete with a few trials

I love the concept of Thankful Thursday. It's something that stays with me all day, every Thursday, even if I don't post about it. Today however, has been one of those days that just hurt. What is interesting though, is that in the yuck of the day, I still have pondered thankfulness all day. So, here is what I am thinking...

1. I am so very thankful that although I feel horrible today, my growing child is constantly making me aware that she is fine.
2. I am thankful that while Maddie still has daily issues with her kidney disease and life is not and probably won't be "normal" for her, she is happy!
3. I am thankful that Lexi is Lexi. No other way to put it..
4. I am thankful for bunkbeds and Lexi sleeping all night in them!! Hallelujah!
5. I am thankful that I have a husband who loves me, everyday, all day and through anything.
6. I am thankful that my husband is a Godly man with integrity!

So yes, I am a blessed woman. But if you could, would you pray for my unspoken prayers. God's timing is best in all situations, but as a hormonal woman with 8 weeks until delivery, could you pray for a miracle in our life.

Thanks.
