Perfectly Repurposed and a little Decorating on the side.

I am deep in the redecorating the house part of my summer. That means nothing is sacred and that anything can be moved or changed or REPURPOSED!! :) Truly, that's what my family is best at!

So, remember my fabric wall tree? If not.. go see this post.

Well, it's now...

How cool is that! I love how it looks on Lexi's wall! I love how the 3d pink mirror flowers that we got from Walmart totally change this tree. It looks so much better on the white wall. I love the contrast!!

Lexi's room is moving and grooving.. but Kylie is a little frustrated in the lack of stuff happening in her room, so I guess I'll be working on her room tomorrow!

In other decorating news, I took the dresser that was in Kylie's room and we made it an entertainment/media center for the tv. The one that we purchased with the couches was nice, but too short!! I love how we were able to repurpose the dresser into the perfect height media center! Doug took the top drawers out and cut a piece of Masonite to fit inside the drawer. We are saving the drawer should we want to return it to dresser use in the future. Isn't this great! And now that the tv is higher, we don't have this cavernous wall behind the tv that looks funny. And a side benefit is that we don't have a family furniture piece sitting in a storage building!

So where did the too short media center go? The bottom of my closet!! Heck ya! It is perfectly repurposed there!! I needed storage for my running clothes and a place to put my shoes, so this works great. And should we need to use it as a media center in the future, it hasn't been sitting in the storage building becoming icky!

But let's go back to the tree business..below is a tutorial for what I did should you want to make your own fabric tree! Enjoy.

Not just any old magnet/dry erase board. These have style!!

Remember these old yucky frames from a couple of days ago?

TADA!!!

Aren't they super cool!!!!
They are now magnet frames!

Here is the first one with a picture. It's navy with yellow polka dot paper.

And without the picture.

This one is made with Jacket paper.  I only have ONE piece of this paper :(
{so if you want this frame let me know asap!]
And without the picture. Yes, the magnet clip moves around so you can place it where you like.

If the other frames were too girly for you, how bout the navy with tin? LOVE.

And without picture.

I'm making these for a craft fair, but if you would like one early, just let me know.  I have red, silver, navy and forest green frames.  I can put magnet or dry erase in them.  I can put fabric or paper over the magnet board.

Prices? The frames pictured are all $20 a piece. And they are about 11x14 each. I have some frames that are 8x10, more 11x14, some 12x16, 16x20 and even larger!  So I'm thinking 8x10 are $15, 11x14 are $20, 12x16 are $25, 16x20 are $30. If you want even bigger than 16x20, email me at emilymclemore@yahoo.com !

40 Bags in 40 Days: Day One, The Laundry Room

In case you are wondering... I started early. I know that I'll get behind quickly, but I had a relatively free evening and decided to get a head start!

When I made my 40 Bags list, I wasn't thinking about how much WORK it was going to be to clean up the laundry room. I just knew it needed to happen.

UGH!!

I started with things looking like this.

I finished with this!! OH YEAH!! SWEET!!
But getting there took a while. I cleaned out a couple of bags worth of fabric scraps, craft junk and a pile of trash.

Look at that monster Ikea bag full of goodies that are leaving my house!!
And here it is. The clean and de-cluttered laundry room!!

Let's take one more look at the organized thread...
I repurposed a ribbon organizer that never seemed to really work. I love it in this use.

Yippee for organization, repurposing and decluttering!!
