An October Recap

Halloween has come and gone. Thank goodness. I've never been a fan of Halloween, but we participate in some of the fun stuff so that our girls will have memories.

Cause I really think that is one of the greatest gifts of childhood. The memories of family events... whatever those family events are, it doesn't even matter... just DOING things together and laughing along the way.

And so, here is a recap of some of this year's October memories.

1. Family pictures with a grumpy Kylie.

Isn't that hysterical?! I love it! That is soo her! But she did smile for some of the pictures.
If you need a great photographer and live in central Texas, Kimmie's Photography is great and very reasonably priced! Click here to go to her facebook page.

2. We carved pumpkins.

3. We had family time while Doug recovered from knee surgery.

4. We joined thousands of other families on our town square for trick or treating.

I'm not even kidding. The town shuts down the square and people line the sidewalks trick or treating. My girls don't as no way am I going to stand in a line for a couple of hours to get candy. But we don't have to as three churches have events at the same time on the square. So you start at one side with one churches "trunk or treat" go to the middle and play games and jump in the bounce houses at another churches event and then finish off on the other side of the square with a "fall festival."

It is insane. But really fun for the kids.
And since the streets are closed, and the police are at the street barricades, it's really great and safe event! And if I had to guess, I am sure that it is the city's most popular and well attended event of the year. It is so crowded it feels like Disney World!

5. Maddie went to a school dance (and even dressed up!)

6. Lexi went to a school dance and of course she dressed up!

7. Kylie had "Book Character Day" at school.
She went as Lady Bug Girl. It's one of our favorite books.

8. And finally we went trick or treating.

And in the midst of all of that.. we had band contests. In case you aren't familiar with the world of marching band.. October is a very busy month. Actually from August 1 to the end of football season is pretty hard core, but October it is insane.

This is pretty much how we saw of Maddie the last few months.

But the hard work paid off. Yesterday the band won lots of awards and are now finished with their contest season!

And there you have our October.

Did you notice that Kylie wore three different costumes... that is so Kylie!

Bluebonnets 2015

I need for time to slow down.
How can another spring be here already.
Another season of bluebonnet pictures to document that my children are growing up so very fast!

Yesterday, one of my art students, and a family friend, met me in our traditional spot for bluebonnet pictures. She got some great pictures!

Here are a few of them.

Yeah, makes my breath catch a little.

And just for grins and tears...

And this is why I am so focused on taking pictures and scrapbooking, cause in the blink of an eye my baby grew up!

Don't you just love this picture of Kylie and me!

Bluebonnets 2014

It's Bluebonnet season again!!  Oh how I love this time of year! Warm weather and sunny days!

For the last few years we have gone out to the same friend's land for pictures. They have a fantastic place for pictures! So thankful for good friends!

Here are this year's pictures. The poor quality of the pictures is frustrating, but the girls looked great! One day, I'm going to get a nice camera. For now... at least I have pictures!

Framed Family Pictures

I think it's a record. Actually, I know it's a record. Within a month of having our family pictures taken, they are printed, framed and on the wall!! Yippee!

I'm in love.

Here are all of the framed prints. I'm a continuity person, so I was thrilled to be able to go back to the same frame shop and have our new family pictures placed in matching frames. In fact, I was able to recycle the large frame. It holds our family picture from 2006. I think it is great that they will just put the new picture on top of the old picture. Now I don't have to worry about where I am going to store old framed pictures!

Don't you just love it when something works out the way you envision?!!

So if you need an incredible photographer, check out http://www.rootedinlovephoto.com/
And if you need a great printer/framer (she can print on canvas and then mount/frame if you want too!) Go check out http://www.framesetc.us/

And no, .. there is not kickback to me for giving these ladies a shout out... they are just friends who do great work! :)

Spring Pictures 2013

Springtime in Texas means that some days you get a high of 45 degrees and some days are 85 degrees. Often you get two of each in a week. This week we have in fact had two of each! Today is a gorgeous high 70's afternoon.

Along with the unpredictable weather, we have unpredictable flowers.  The Texas Bluebonnet is a great flower. Some years they are everywhere and some years you find one and holler success.  This was a year of very few bluebonnets.

But that doesn't stop me from taking spring pictures!  I love this very Texas ritual!

This afternoon, right during the absolutely WORST time of the day to take pictures, I loaded up the girls and went out to a friends place to take pictures. You might recognize the trees and landmarks from previous years.

How nice that blogger allowed me to increase the size of only the very first picture. typical blogger. :\

I think Kylie might be working on her Karate Kid moves! And look at that sweet Lexi!

Love the Texas Rangers cap pictures! This was ALL her!

Maddie turns 13 in a couple of weeks. Please make her stop growing up!

And there you have Spring Pictures 2013! I truly can't believe how fast my girls are growing up!
