20th High School Reunion

My 20th high school reunion was Saturday.  The only pictures I have are ones that Doug took on his phone, so you can't see the details...but I did get Maddie to take a picture of me before we left!

And here is the group picture. Yup.. I got front and center. I've worked really hard the last few months and am proud of myself!! And next time everyone gets together.. maybe at the 50th, I want to remember how good I felt this night!
Man, I've made it to the 20th reunion milestone. crazy.

Incredible Pictures.

Kylie is getting ready to turn 3 and as the youngest child, she doesn't have a lot of pictures of her without her older sisters. You know how it goes, the first child has tons and tons of pictures. The second gets some, and by the third... well, sorry.

So, to celebrate her big day, I scheduled a photo session. One of my friends, Andrea, recently started a business and so we used her.  I am so thrilled we did. If you live in the Dallas/Fort Worth area, you should contact her. http://rootedinlove.webs.com/ or find her on facebook!

We met Andrea in downtown Weatherford on a hot (100+ degrees) Sunday evening. But Kylie and Andrea hit it off and it was great.

Here are a few of my favorites!

I love the chalkboard with the 3 on it. Fun.

Recognize the frame? Yep, it's one of my repurposed frames. Love it! And the child inside the frame? Adorable! You can just see her personality!!

And the final favorite I'm including in this post? Yeah.. it's incredible. It makes my heart melt. (the actual picture is much clearer, but I had trouble with blogger and had to enlarge it in the coding of the post, so strangely it's a little blurry for you. sorry.)

Now the hard part. I have to figure out which pictures I'm going to order!!

A Tshirt Carpet.. Part 1 of ?

Maddie and I are working on a Tshirt Carpet! How cool is that!!

With the crocheting a bust, I've started over doing a latch-hook style rug. Here is Maddie with the hook base. We had a couple of latch hook tools that we that might use. We found quickly that the tools were more work than they helped and our fingers were more nimble with the tshirt yarn.
Here are all the strips of tshirt.  They were part of the crochet rug that wasn't to be.
And here is a close up of Maddie's hands. You fold a strip in half, run it under and over an opening and pull through. (yeah, that makes since...)
And here are a few of the loops. I was originally working in rows, but I quickly realized that I probably won't have enough strips for the whole rug, so I am now just randomly placing all my strips so that the colors will be mixed.

And that's where we are at. I'm thinking it will be a while till you see part 2!!

Reward!

Tonight we went to the President's Gala at the local university.

It is RARE for me to say that I love the way I look, or that I love a dress.... but,
I loved the way I looked and I loved my dress.
That is incredible motivation for me to finish this journey!!

And in case you didn't take a good look.. look at my waist! Awesome!!

Well, Hello August. You sure do arrive quickly every year!

It's August 3rd and that means, I'm getting ready for another school year!

As I've probably mentioned before, I think I may be the only high school teacher that decorates my room in a theme each year.

Over the last few years I've had Safari, Underwater, Construction, Peace, and others that I can't remember!

This year, my theme is "Be A Part Of It" aka New York City.  And since I'm not allowed to paint the walls (boo hiss) I'm putting up skyline paper around a couple of walls. I keep the bulletin boards a simple black and have skyline border and New York city type cut outs to hang up.

I'm going to hang some twinkle lights and clothesline from the ceiling.  Not sure yet how I'm going to plug in the twinkle lights as extension cords are against fire code... but I'll come up with something!!

Here are a couple of pictures of the room in progress.  My girls are ALWAYS so helpful... :)

I've got to get some muscly people to help me move everything back into position as I'm not supposed to drag things on the newly waxed floor. But man, the press has to weight a few hundred pounds!

Well, that's it for now.  I just love starting over each year! So many new ideas and new things to make!!
